Writing

This week for writing we wrote our own version of what happened to Mr B's finger. The real story of what happened to Mr B's finger is his finger was chewed on by a Tiger at NewWorld. My version of Mr B's  finger is it got bent back and bit by a dog. Here is a picture of mine.

WONDER‼️

Friday 25th of August was the day Pod 5 finished reading the book WONDER which was about a deformed boy named August who was homeschooled until his parents sent him to a school named Beecher Prep. He meets a kid named Jack Will who is really kind and helps Auggie out. I thought it was a really nice book because it means that no matter how you look or act you'll always be you no matter what and by that I think it means a lot. At the end of the book Mr Tushman gives a huge speech and says that if everybody could be a little kinder than needed it would make the world a better place and I think that was very nice. Here is a picture of the front cover of the book.

MATHS‼️

This week for maths pod five have been looking at goals and working on them. My goal is Solve multiplication problems using a range of strategies (number 16.) This is the picture of what I did to practice doing it. I used three dice, one normal dice, one ten sided dice and one plus, takeaway, multiplication and division dice. Then I rolled the dice and wrote down the equation. I didn't work them out until I had wrote them all down.

CRAZY DAY!!!

August 11th was Crazy Day for Hurupaki so we could raise money for Kids Can. There were some crazy outfits at Hurupaki including Mia's crazy balloon hair and Bonnie's solar system body. I think everybody can agree that CRAZY FRIDAY was a blast. Here is a picture of Addison VE and my costumes. Hope you like them.😉

Maths

For maths this week we have been practicing LPG goals that we need to work on. My LPG goal was number 15 on the year 6 sheet: solve subtraction problems using a range of strategies. I'd roll one twenty sided dice and one 10 sided dice, I would also have a plus and take away dice to do them. Then I would take away 1 of the numbers from the other and show how I worked it out in different ways.

This week for maths my LPG was number 10: identity fractions. Around half of the class that need a fresh up with fractions work with Mr Buckland and the people who are good with fractions work with Miss Hacket. Here is a photo of my work.
